Why is Taayoota spending so damned much money in this series. I don't think any of the other manufacturers spend a dime, other than if RCR or Harvic Inc, etc, enters a car. The ARCA viewership numbers are almost non-existent. Me and what, 3 other guys.
CORNELIUS, N.C. (March 31, 2009) – ‘Nine-time’ takes on a new meaning as Kimmel Racing heads to Salem Speedway for this weekend’s Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200. Not only is Frank Kimmel, driver of the No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford Fusion, a nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion, but he is also a nine-time winner at the a .555-mile paved high banked oval in Salem, Indiana.

“It’s actually both comforting and stressful to get back to a track where we’ve had so much success,” said Kimmel. “Comforting because we really enjoy racing in front of our family and local supporters at what we consider our home track, but it’s also stressful because there’s a certain amount of self-induced pressure we put on ourselves to run up front and contend for wins every time we go to Salem.”

Despite the burden to repeat last September’s performance at Salem, where Kimmel led 62 laps in route to victory, Kimmel is quick to admit that past success gives Kimmel Racing an edge on the competition.

“Salem is a different kind of track because it’s so rough,” explained Kimmel. “But I think over the years Bill and I have really come to understand what it takes to be successful at the track.”

Aside from his nine wins, Kimmel’s overall Salem statistics are equally impressive. In 29 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts at Salem, Kimmel has eight pole awards, 21 top-fives and 1,554 laps led. His accomplishments have made Kimmel the most successful driver in the series’ 54-year history of competition at Salem. And his contributions to the venue are not overlooked by the track officials.

“Frank Kimmel has definitely played a significant part in the history of ARCA racing at Salem,” said Salem Speedway General Manager Richard Deaton. “It’s hard to compare different divisions, but he’s definitely one of the top drivers to ever race here. His accomplishments are unparalleled.”

Deaton went on to credit Frank will delivering some of the greatest on track battles for a checkered flag at Salem.

“Thanks to Frank Kimmel, we’ve had some of the most memorable race finishes here at Salem,” added Deaton. “He’s had a lot of really classy, yet exciting finishes with the likes of Chad Blount, Shelby Howard and dating all the way back to Tim Steele. He’s always put on a great show for the fans who come out to see him race.”

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">“<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">I think there are several things you can accomplish at a test,” said Kimmel. “First of all, you have that extra opportunity and time on track to try a variety of different set ups – some you don’t know how well they will work but a test is a better time to work through those questions than on a typical race weekend where your practice time is limited.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">“Secondly, I think it’s good for the crew to get to the track and get back to their comfort zones and figure out everyone’s roles and responsibilities. We’ve got some new crew guys and the test was a good chance for them to see how we do things at Kimmel Racing.”

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Like his battle for a 10th series championship, Kimmel hopes his extra effort and practice time at Salem will result in win number 10 at his hometown race track. The Kentuckiana Ford Dealer 200 sees the green flag fly at 2:15 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, April 5th.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

ARCA Schedule Allows Kimmel Racing to Enhance

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (March 9, 2009) – Frank Kimmel and the No. 44 Ansell/Menards team started the 2009 ARCA Racing Series season a little over a month ago in Daytona – completing the season opening event with a solid 11th place finish.

With the ARCA schedule structured in a way that provides an eight week hiatus in between the first and second races, Kimmel Racing is taking full advantage of the opportunity to ramp up their competitive spirit and off track presence in time for the bulk of the season to begin. The next race is just over three weeks away – at Salem Speedway on April 5th – and Kimmel and his family built race team are ready to continue the battle for another ARCA championship.

Despite the extended time off, Kimmel and his full time team have been busier than ever.

"In our particular case, this break has been a lifesaver," said Kimmel. "Our sponsorship program with Ansell and Menards came together late in January so this down time gives us the opportunity to get the cars ready and to enhance the program for Ansell, such as decaling the hauler, pit equipment, tool boxes and getting the crew in new Ansell/Menards uniforms."

In addition to all those changes, personnel and equipment elements have also been put in place to ensure a successful season.

"The biggest change we made right after Daytona was to hire on a full time crew," said Kimmel. "In the past we've worked mainly with volunteers to service this team, so to be able to go out and hire a crew that will work all year to improve Kimmel Racing was first and foremost on our list after Daytona. Once we were able to establish our team in that regard, the next thing to do was to get some better equipment."

To improve their stable of cars, Frank Kimmel and crew chief Bill Kimmel took a trip down to Concord, North Carolina to visit with Robby Reiser at Roush Racing.

"We drove down to Roush a few weeks ago and met with Robby Reiser to buy six new cars for this season," explained Kimmel. "We were able to get two intermediate cars, a superspeedway car, a road course car and two spare cars that will definitely come in handy throughout the next seven months."

After taking the green flag for race #2, Kimmel Racing will compete in 21 races between early April and October. The nonstop racing action requires the team to really use this down time to prepare for anything and everything that can happen over the course of the season.

"The ARCA schedule gets pretty rigorous in the middle of the season," said Kimmel. "Because it gets so hectic and with the team traveling to and from the events, it's very important to be prepared for that time by getting all our cars ready now."

Next stop for Kimmel Racing is the team's hometown race track – where the No. 44 car went to Victory Lane in its last outing at the .555 mile paved oval.

"We're really excited to get back to Salem," said Kimmel. "This is the car that we call the ‘Don' – it won at Salem last fall and it was also the car that won both dirt track events in 2008.

"Overall, the race at Salem is an important race for me and for this entire team because we're all from the area and we've got a big group there with us. We always look to run well in front of our friends, family and supporters."

Kimmel Racing, based in Clarksville, Indiana is 48 miles from Salem Speedway. In three weeks, Kimmel will return to Salem Speedway with the hopes of continuing his reign as the hometown hero and from there, he will forge a season long battle for a tenth series championship.

9-Time Champ Frank Kimmel Looking for 10th Title

http://arcaracing.com/news.cfm?contentid=7678

TOLEDO OH (2-24-09) - In our nation's worst economy since The Great Depression, Frank Kimmel went from having no sponsor to having a full sponsor. It happened right before Daytona when Ansell and Menards joined forces with the 9-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion for the 2009 season.

How did he do it? A portion of the answer is respectably proprietary; however, other components of the equation are crystal clear. To cut to the chase - it simply means something to be a 9-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion.

Earning a championship in any touring series is commendable, but earning it here in the ARCA Nation is arguably and nearly as challenging as anywhere. Not to belabor the point, but no other touring series on earth demands diversity quite like ARCA; because no other touring series is as versatile, competing on an ultra-interesting variety of tracks to include superspeedways, short-tracks, dirt-tracks and road courses. Bottom line - it's very, very difficult to become an ARCA RE/MAX Series national champion, let alone, times 9.

"There may be something to that," said Kimmel. "But, personally, I've never really felt that way. You do the best job possible in showing companies the value of your race team, the value of the ARCA RE/MAX Series and the benefits for companies to go with your program. Given the 50 or 60 companies we talked to, we are very fortunate to be partners with Ansell and Menards. We're going to do everything within our power to show them they made the right choice. If being a 9-time champion here influenced their decision, then we consider ourselves very fortunate to have earned those credentials ahead of time."

Kimmel had just adjourned with the team's weekly Monday morning meeting.

"Beyond talking about the things we usually talk about - chew over what happened in the race, pit stops, the trailer, what we can do collectively to make our team better - we're talking more and more about what's the best way we can represent our sponsors. Ansell and Menards - they're the boss. If it wasn't for their partnership, we wouldn't be employing people at Kimmel Racing. We need to instill in our guys - many of whom are not necessarily used to dealing with sponsors - how best to represent the team, not only on the track, but off the track. Everything from dressing appropriately to how they present themselves. We go over every aspect of our relationship with our sponsors, say what needs to be said, and act accordingly."

What a difference a year can make. In 2008, there were no fulltime employees at Kimmel Racing. Not even Frank and his brother/crew chief Bill Kimmel were on payrolls. Yet somehow, a team with 100% volunteer help, a team that tested not at all, a team that subbed Frank's camper for hotels, a team that was considering not entering the race at Pocono, a team with a driver that sat on the sidelines at Nashville to recover from injuries, pulled it together and nearly pulled off another championship. Through it all, the Kimmel's finished second in points, only 50 away from Justin Allgaier.

In 2009, different story. Not only are there six fulltime crew members on the payroll, the Kimmel Racing team is going to be doing a lot of testing.

"We have full intentions of testing more, especially at the mile-and-a-half tracks. With all the new technologies - the coil-bind springs and some other things we need to really pay attention to - we're definitely testing a lot more."

Ansell, Menards to Sponsor Frank Kimmel in ARCA

TOLEDO, Ohio (Jan. 29, 2009)--Officials from Ansell Protective Products Inc. and Menards Home Improvement Stores announced today that they will become co-primary sponsors of nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion Frank Kimmel in 2009.

"We are pleased to announce a comprehensive, multi-faceted marketing program in conjunction with Menards Home Improvement Stores and ARCA," said Sean Sweeney, Sr. Market Development Manager for Ansell. "Together, Ansell Gloves and Menards have partnered to sponsor nine-time ARCA Champion Frank Kimmel for the 2009 season."

The marketing program is anchored by a business-to-business relationship between Ansell, the world's largest manufacturer of protective gloves and clothing, and Menards, a Midwestern-based chain of home improvement stores. As a result of the sponsorship, the Ansell line of hand protection products will be available for purchase in each of the nation's 245 Menards Home Improvement Stores.

"This sponsorship program is really neat," said Kimmel. "It has been designed to promote the availability of Ansell's safety glove line to the contractor and installer markets at Menards retail locations. The support of Ansell and Menards helps me to continue to pursue my goals of attempting to earn a tenth ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship and hopefully surpass Iggy Katona on the all-time ARCA win list."

Kimmel is the ARCA RE/MAX Series' all-time active leader, with records in the categories of championships won, most laps led, superspeedway pole awards, superspeedway challenge championships, top-five finishes, top-ten finishes and career earnings. With 74 career wins, he is just five wins shy of tying Katona's all-time win record in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.

"Menards is very excited to sponsor Frank Kimmel's run for a tenth ARCA Championship in 2009," said Jeff Abbott, company spokesperson for Menard, Inc. "We feel his strong work ethic is a good fit with our family-owned, customer service oriented, home town hardware stores."

Retail offerings at Menards range from lawn and garden supplies to lumber, tools and supplies for landscaping, building and remodeling. The home improvement stores cater to the do-it-yourself consumer and the professional contractor, jobber and installer. Menards is based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and currently has 245 locations in 12 states.

"As business needs evolve, so do our marketing efforts," said Steve York, Director of Channel Development for Ansell. "The opportunity to partner with ARCA and Menards as well as expand our value proposition into the retail market further promotes our worksite safety initiatives. We are excited to partner with Menards, Frank Kimmel and ARCA."

Ansell is the world's largest manufacturer of protective gloves and clothing, providing leadership in the areas of development, design, manufacturing and marketing. Ansell has led the personal protective equipment industry with "Ideas that FitTM" for more than 100 years. The global manufacturer has provided comprehensive safety solutions and product innovations to help manufacturers across a wide range of industries reduce worker injuries and boost productivity.

Beginning with the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 on Saturday, February 7 at Daytona International Speedway, Kimmel's family owned team will sport the familiar "Day-Glo" yellow color scheme carried by other Menards sponsored teams.

For more information about the ARCA RE/MAX Series, visit http://www.arcaracing.com/.
 Logano was driving the Billy Venturini Racing Chevrolet. Some sort of deal between Venturini and Gibbs. As for the crowd, Andy Hillenburg was in the booth for ten minutes during the race and commented that "we have a good crowd, a little more than half full". There is no way that place was even a quarter full.

If stock car racing had a "Robin Miller" type media guy, an honest guy who didn't hype everything, we'd hear someone on tv talk about the sad crowd. But, he wouldn't have much work as Miller has found out. Both the Indy Series and the Champ Car series hated the Miller cuz he talked about what a disaster both series became.

 I hope it works out as well.
Decent start

1. Coverage stunk. It wasn't even in HD.
I really enjoyed the hatchet job SPEED did on the ending. That was bad.

2. No Safer Barrier at that track. That looked strange.

Tickets were priced very reasonable but where were the fans. I hope Andy H. didn't invest only his money in this track, hope he had a lot of investors. Maybe the weather was terrible. Hope like H it works out for Andy.
